Water Conservation
Project Topic: Control and Chaos
Focus: Water
Water can demonstrate both control and chaos, as it controls the life of all things on earth, while also creating storms, ocean waves, and becomes polluted as industrialization progresses. In this project, I chose to display both the controlled and chaotic aspects of water. I focused on filming water in many different types of environments, such as a running river, a car wash, sprinklers, and water in puddles along the street. Water is everywhere around us, and it is both smooth and controlled, while also being chaotic and polluted. I organized the video to progress from beautiful, controlled water shots into chaotic, polluted, and water waste shots. While editing the video, I color-corrected each water clip to match the colors of the same clip on the screen, while also changing from a dark blue to a green as the video progressed. The changes in color and style of water are used to demonstrate the progression of water from giving life, to polluted and wasted. I also chose to organize each clip with a split screen of 1/3 or 1/2, to keep it clean and consistent, as well as using wipes in the direction of the clips for each transition. Overall, water displays both control and chaos everywhere around us.
