Daydreaming is an interactive audio visualizer and video display MAX/MSP 8 artwork, developed to create an immersive dream-like environment for the viewer. The basic design behind the piece is to simulate the ‘zoning-out’ daydream that occurs as humans immerse themselves in music by allowing viewers to choose a song and their ideal location (video). The user can choose between 11 songs and 11 videos to create their own individual daydream.

The left display is an audio visualizer created using jit.gl.plato shapes that respond to the current audio track. The amplitude of the song is scaled to control the position of the visuals to simulate a speaker moving back and forth to create audio output. The right display is the video, and the user is able to choose between 11 daydream locations and alter the hue value of the video. Both displays are controlled with projection mapping, allowing each aspect to be shown on a different surface in the scope of the projector. In this project, the displays can be shown side by side on a blank wall, or in a corner space that allows for the visuals to project on the left wall, and the videos to project on the right wall.

The controls for the audio, video, jit.gl.plato display colors, and the hue color are all influenced by the user through MiraWeb, which can be displayed on any phone, tablet, or laptop by entering the IP address shown on the patch into a web browser, as long as the user is on the same WiFi network.
